Yes, I am wearing a halter top and sweatpants...I got half-dressed this morning
Hopefully we can get it fixed today!
Here are some dining rooms and living rooms for inspiration:
So although we want to do some outdoor projects (make some bench seating and a table for our backyard), we are focusing on the inside until the mitre saw is fixed. Today we did our usual weekend Home Depot trip along with Benjamin Moore to get paint. We are painting the dining room Newburyport Blue (HC-155), which is a nice navy blue, and our adjoining living room the classic Cloud White. We are going to start painting next weekend as Matt has a day off on Friday. What we did do today was put up the pendant light in the dining room, which wasn't as daunting as a project as I thought, because the individual capiz shells were actually all hooked together for each piece. Between the two of us attaching them to the light, it only took about 10 minutes. The problem, as usual, was the actual hooking up of the light to the junction box. This one has one, unlike our bedroom light, but it didn't fit perfectly and hung a bit from the ceiling, so we headed to Home Depot. We got a piece we thought would work...but it didn't, so currently he is back there trying something else. We also got a longer garden hose, a spray nozzle, a watering can, and a little hand-held broom and dustpan that I needed for both inside and out. Hopefully it will work, but until then, here are some pictures of the progress! Original light that came with the house - ugh. All gone! 53 capiz shell lengths to attach Matt attaching some shells I forced him to take some pictures to PROVE that I actually do a lot of this house stuff too! Yes, I am wearing a halter top and sweatpants...I got half-dressed this morning Very pretty, and much more light than the last one Success...sort of... See the problem? Hopefully we can get it fixed today! Here are some dining rooms and living rooms for inspiration: Love the light chairs and dark table Great window treatments and sideboard I like the open hutch Very elegant Scary picture, but I like the colours Peter Fallico loves Cloud White too! Gotta have the navy accents to tie in the two rooms- love the vase and pillows

After work today I met my work wife, Marta, for some late lunch with her and her little man, Evan. I missed her at work and she needed some adult conversation from the boring life of maternity leave, so it was a great afternoon. So glad to catch up, gossip about school, and talk about Evan and all his baby-ness - he has 6 teeth, he laughs and smiles, and he's so cute. Here's a picture I stole of him from Marta's Facebook - adorable. No big plans for tonight or Saturday - mostly house stuff and sleeping in and perhaps some marking. But SUNDAY? Going to Glee Live with my mom - so excited! I've been singing Glee songs all afternoon. Here is one of a cute boy singing "Teenage Dream" and dancing, including the suit! So my week ended off with my grade ten's doing their optics unit test, with a surprisingly large number of them sniffly, coughing, and sneezing. Sure enough, I swallowed, and my throat was sore. Ugh. By the time I got home after running a few errands, my head hurt and my sinuses were clogged. By that night, I was a miserable mess that went to bed at 8:30. Before that, those errands included getting new wedges and flip flops from Aldo, and a turquoise zip up and white headband from Lulu at STC, and picking up invitations I made for my cousin's wedding shower in July, so at least that was a plus.
Saturday I woke up feeling gross, but good enough to sit up and work. Ohhhhh boy did I work. Made 2 exams, 2 exam reviews, 2 unit tests, a set of unit notes and worksheets, and a lab report, plus marked a class set of tests and a quizzes. I also assembled the invitations (cut them - yes I have a paper cutter, backed them with bright yellow paper - yes I have spray adhesive, and addressed the envelopes - yes I have a calligraphy pen). Quite a productive day! Went to bed early again, and tried to be less sniffly. Sunday woke up early feeling better. Tylenol Cold really helped! Gotta stick to Daytime, however, the Nighttime makes me faint (don't want THAT to happen again). Anyway, I cleaned my entire house from top to bottom, tidied my outside yards from the daily fallen debris (leaves, twigs, acorns), attacked a spider web which I discovered house millions of teeny spiders (GROSS), and stopped the siege of squirrels and cats from entering my house periodically (they think they're people!). I also had time to make myself presentable when my parents came over for their birthday celebration (mom on the 5th and dad on the 7th). My brother came too, and we had some appetizers and cake and wine. I was very happy and sedated by 4pm, and then when they left, Matt and I went for a nice long walk to the Beach (Queen East) to get some sun and exercise and fresh air. Had dinner out on the patio, and once again, went to bed early to try and recover before the school week started again. Matt would want me to mention that he fixed the hole around the bedroom light, put a second coat on the trim and doors in the bedroom, and fixed a few painted edges and hole in the wall from an attempt to put up hooks on Saturday. It was much appreciated and looks a lot better! Oh yes, and today I yelled at my grade ten's for making me sick: "Oh yeah, you guys, all with your sniffling and sneezing and coughing last week,? You got me SICK ALL WEEKEND! Don't think I forgot that when I marked your test!" Then I laughed. Then they laughed...nervously...haha, they'll never know, will they? My grade 11's, however, were mad I didn't make THEIR review or exam (the last one to do, which I finished tonight), and they asked "Miss, did you do NOTHING all weekend?"...geez...well their test was today...I'll get them back. Don't mess with Miss. Here's a first attempt to organize some colour ideas - Jessica is thinking blue and white, and its a destination wedding. Here are some images I gathered for her. She will let me know if it's the right blue, and if not, I'll try again!
