Once we were done there (sad to leave, but definitely will come back), we headed back past Thira to one of the many beaches. Santorini has red volcanic beaches, black pebble beaches, and white sandy beaches. We ended up at a pebbly beach. It was a windy day, so we grabbed some lunch before heading into the crazy sea and getting some sun. The sea was a bit too rough, but the sun was nice and the pebbles felt good on the body.
We took the ATVs back into Thira where we did some walking around, and then decided to WALK the 600+ steps down back to the bottom. Well, down doesn't sound too bad, despite the donkey crap everywhere and rogue donkeys trying to kill you, but what was worse? The steps were so slippery! Pretty much marble and threatening to knock you down with every step. I had a death grip on Matt's shoulder was almost wiped out at least 100 times. It was NOT fun. Meg got her donkey pictures at least, and we were safely back on the boat. We had a nice long day in Santorini (until 8pm) so we really got to enjoy every aspect of this beautiful island. I WILL RETURN OIA!!!!
PS - Matt dropped my camera back on the boat...which I believe damaged an inner lens, leaving a spot on most bright pictures from here on out (as seen above) - anyone know any good camera repair places in TO?
