Yesterday Matt and I spent the morning and some of the afternoon wandering around - we went to St. Lawrence Market, the Distillery District, and Woodbine Beach. We started off at the market, gathering fresh veggies and meat and of course, cheese, for our weekend dinners (more on that tomorrow). It smelled SO good in there and it's been a long time since we've been! The Distillery District was next, and we first went to Balzac's. I was just there on Thursday with Jamie and Hope, and had to show Matt all the great architecture - he loves the exposed brick. Then we just wandered through stores and galleries and saw so many things we could not afford, but it was fun! View of Balzac's and Barrels There are a few of these cafes around the GTA, but this one is the nicest Who doesn't like a chandelier amidst exposed pipe and brick? Plus beautiful photography! I took a lot of pictures Matt kept having to stop and wait for me - "I'm COMING!" So many barrels, but no drinks for us (it was before noon) Reminds me of some of the buildings in Europe Definitely an eclectic mix of old and new architecture City in the distance and old distillery in the forefront Sucker for a colourful door For some reason this reminds me of the S&R sign for in Kingston Nothing like an old fire pump at the bottom of a condo Reminds of plastic bracelets or glowsticks Spiral conveyor belt Weird artsy chairs at the back of a restaurant Make a wish! This reminds me of the mutts in The Hunger Games - "Save Me Peeta!!!" On the walk back to the car along Front Street East After our city wanderings we went back to our own neighbourhood, about a five minute drive from our house, to Woodbine beach. I don't think I've ever been there in the winter...it's weird walking in sand in boots, but I liked it nonetheless. We went to the old lifeguard station and took some pictures by the water, and enjoyed the beautifully sunny day! Lonely beachfront in the winter Old LIfeguard Station Man made break with a lonely tree at the end Ohhh the sea birds - the seagulls... ...the ducks... ...and the...penguins? Is it the tropics or Toronto? Who can tell? Getting ready to skip a rock Great action shot! Boots! Soft focus makes me a bit dizzy... And the selfies begin... Matt likes this one...I think he looks tired Oh kissing in sepia... View of beach and city together Family decorated a dedicated tree for a loved one who died - so sweet Got home to find it 8 degrees - January thaw!!!
