Getting Ready Pictures
A mix of professional and parent pictures of the wedding party getting ready at the salon and the hotel!
The Girls - Hair & Makeup at Salon Liberte
We spent the night before the wedding in a suite at the Royal York. We all woke up early and headed to my mom's salon, Salon Liberte, on Yonge Street. My mom's stylist, Chako, along with Jeremy and Curtis, all worked on our hair until it was beautiful. Jeremy spent a lot of time figuring out my hair - I wanted a bit more length, but nothing permanent, so we set out to find clip-in extensions. We got some, but they didn't match, and we had to get new ones, which were perfect! I was really happy the way all the girls' hair turned out - Caroline had a side swept low updo, Megan had swept back curls, Holly had sweet ringlets, and Steph had high glam and volume swept back hair. Mine was intricate and curly with a few twists and braids and lots of length.
Our original makeup artist was Christina, but she pulled her back or neck or something the day before the wedding! I freaked out for a second, but she graciously arranged for a fellow MAC stylist named Zenah to come in her place. I was a bit nervous not having a trial with her, but she blew me away. She definitely glammed up all of our makeup and it was so fun to see everyone completely made up, including my mom who wears only neutrals, and Holly who really wears hardly any makeup at all!

The Boys - Dressed & Drinks at the Royal York
The boys had far less to do before heading to the hotel. While we were rolling out of bed at 7AM, I'm supposing that the boys got a few more hours of sleep and then showered and ironed a shirt. They all gathered in Matt's parents' suite at the Royal York to put the final touches on their tuxes and hair and forced into picture taking. The boys used Freeman Formalware for their tux rentals. Matt bought his own shoes and tie and pocket square, and they were all in white. We went back and forth with white and ivory (since my dress is ivory), but I'm glad he stuck to white. He really did look great. The boys had navy for their ties and vests, and they all had black tuxes. Matt's dad bought a tux, and his mom bought her dress at a store on Lakeshore in Oakville. They were both lovely.
The Girls - Dresses & Primping at the Royal York
Once we were done at the salon (and with a quick stop to MAC in the Eaton Center), we headed back to the Royal York. Nothing like a group of gorgeous girls taking the subway early on Saturday morning. We headed back and switched rooms (so we were in our rooms for the night), and I got to see our room - the Prime Minister Suite - which Matt and I would stay in that night. It was HUGE! More than double the size of our condo - crazy! I feel like half our rent for the month would be spent on one night staying there!
My mom came up and met me with a gift - a precious moments wedding figurine. She gave me one for my grad, and a have a few from when I was little. Matt thinks they are creepy with their giant eyes, but I loved it. Erin and Joni came in to snap some pictures while we all got dressed too!
The girls got their dresses at The Dressroom on Danforth. They are tea-length, sweetheart necked, midnight colour, and light fabric with a sash. We used The Dessy Collection to find the dress. Some of them chose to add straps, some left it strapless - it was up to them. They had the option of different dresses in the same colour, but they all liked that one the best, so we went with that. I'm not going to pretend that they'll "totally be able to wear it again and again", but I hope they didn't mind wearing it at least one day!
My dad lucked out and purchased a tux at Syd Silver, when they were going out to business. He bought a Ralph Lauren tux for the same price as a rental, and got a few ties and socks and extras thrown into it all. We used a piece of my mom's dress as a pocket square for them to match. My mom purchased her dress (and her rehearsal dress too) at Vogue Sposa on Danforth.
My dress was purchased at Becker's Bridal on Danforth (the Dressroom sister store), and altered at Irene's Studio on Bayview. All the dress stores had great customer service and I was really happy with them. My seamstress, Irene, really knew what she was doing, and altered a french lace dress like a champ, and took in a lot of the top. My dress was made my Pronovias, and the style is called Rosana. It was actually the first dress I tried on, although I did try on many after just to make sure it was "the one".
