First step was to do the demolition - we did this ourselves (we meaning Matt, his brother, and my dad) to save a full day of work, cleaning, and labour costs. This post will cover that, and the next will show you the new floors! YAY!

They cut perpendicular to the wood and then knocked it a bit with the crowbar to pull it up.
Matt saved a few sections for a nice wall DIY project for the future.
This took about 3 coats of filling and sanding to fix...
