Here are some pictures of typical Leslieville houses!
Well, we were kicked out of our place due to flooding and decided to walk around Leslieville on a very HOT day! Most of the houses are even nicer than Riverdale, but that probably means that they are much more expensive. A lot are detached and much larger, but there are still some more affordable streets. After that we continued on to Queen East, around The Beach, and got some ice cream and walked along the waterfront.

With this extra time on my hands, I have been looking at decor for every room in the house today online. I looked at thenest.com, styleathome.com, and houseandhome.com. Got lots of inspirational pictures, especially for the home office, bathroom, and kitchen. Those are the most important rooms to me so far! I definitely like the clean look, with a mix of modern and classic. Lots of light, airy colours, and open spaces. Probably won't find a lot of that in Toronto, but one can dream!!! Check out the pictures on the house inspiration pages!
This weekend we'll do another neighbourhood walk, around Leslieville. This area is a bit tougher to predict - a lot of it is in development, lots of industrial stuff turned loft-like places, but some areas are not great. There are little pockets here and there. Riverdale is a little bit more similar street to street. We'll see what we find!!! I figured I would separate the regular blog from the house hunting one - I'm sure this one will be busy enough!
We are starting to look for a new home - our first OWNED home! Yesterday we walked around Danforth (Riverdale area) getting an idea of what is there, what the houses are like, etc. Doesn't hurt that my friend Jessica lives right around there too, so I plan on asking her lots of questions. Once we get a feel for the place, we'll do all the banking stuff (which I will admit to everyone that I'm pretty ignorant about), and then work with an agent. Matt's mom's friend, Cindy, is a great agent in Toronto who we are excited to (hopefully) work with in the next year. Lots to learn and lots to do, but I'm hoping at least some of it will be fun! |
