Next time we see our house, less than 3 weeks from now, we will have keys and it will be OURS! YAY!
Yesterday we went to our new house again, along with my parents, and walked around a bit. Showed my parents all the rooms and talked some more ideas - it was fun! As a closing gift, Cindy is going to arrange an interior design consultation with Sabrina Linn! She's a good friend and former style editor of Canadian House & Home. She'll give us some ideas and layouts and then we can decide how we want to decorate. I am VERY excited for that!

...TONIGHT! I'm more excited than I should be...it means we have payments to make soon - ugh. But yay that much closer to the new house! Just over 3 weeks left! :)
I know this is a bit creeper-ish, but I went to Marta's Facebook photos and grabbed some pictures of Evan's nursery - it is adorable and so well done. They took out the carpet and put it dark laminate (looks great), and did a green striped safari theme, complete with cute wall decals and a lush green plant (picked out by her wonderful husband). The blanket on the rocker was made by one of her dance students - incredible! This is a great room that will work through childhood and has a nice modern, clean feeling.
Yesterday we walked through our new home. The owner was there, but we were able to wander through all the rooms, thinking about decor ideas and measuring EVERYTHING. I like making floor plans, but we have a lot of angled walls and weird walls with pipes behind them so it takes a while! Cindy, our agent, wants to do "Home to Keep" with one of our rooms if they have a second season (first season debuts in March on HGTV), so that was fun thinking about. She also has a friend that works for Canadian House & Home that may come and do some consultations about room decor, and then we'll have a basic plan - yay! Here are some more pictures that Matt took yesterday - the house looks more like ours now - boxes and packing everywhere, less perfect and pristine like it was when it was being sold. They have a lot of pieces of furniture that I am excited to have out of the rooms. Basement Living Room Area (future library & office) Basement Utility Room & Bathroom (future, well, utility room, and spa-like bathroom) Tiny Kitchen Dining & Living Room (which we are reversing when we move in) & Front Entryway Guest Bedroom (where all their packing is currently taking place), Main Bathroom (just storage pictures) & Surprisingly Large Linen Closet Master Bedroom
Last weekend Matt had room layout inspiration and drew some floor plans for our bedroom, the basement (new office/library), and living/dining room - I think they are pretty good! He did originally want to be an architect before he went into engineering! House visit tomorrow to do measurements and see if it is all possible. Master Bedroom Office & Library Living/Dining Room
Well Saturday was supposed to be a crazy snow storm, so we cancelled our house visit because we didn't want our agent, Cindy, travelling in the storm to get there. Turns out the snow was done by noon and we didn't get to go. It got pushed back until next Sunday, and the second one is the following Saturday. I'm so sad - I really want to get into this house and do some measuring and looking at room layouts and everything in more detail. Matt drew some amazing pictures of rooms in our house that I need to put on the blog too - I will do that soon.
Did a bit of packing of summer clothes and things I won't wear in the next few weeks yesterday. I want to pack more, but I don't want everything to get too wrinkled sitting there for another 5 weeks. I want to move and be in the new house - I am going crazy just waiting for it! Today I packed up some more stuff in the den. My parents gave us more boxes and a roll of bubble wrap so I could pack all the fragile stuff. We also took on the hutch - Matt was an excellent packer and fit so much annoying glassware into a very small space - I was impressed. We also packed all our millions of serving pieces, china, and extra mugs and stuff like that. It's those little annoying things, and although it doesn't seem like a lot, we really did pack a ton! I also packed up my shoes (a big box), all the coats and stuff we aren't wearing, and all the extra blankets, towels, and bedding. We have 5 more weekends after this, but with all the other stuff going on, I figured an early start was best! Hutch Before Hutch Now - Packed, along with many other things!
I have in my possession a GIANT roll of bubble wrap!
Meant for packing, more fun to pop. |
